That seems to be the way it goes, most cops are real people just trying to do their job properly, which is not always easy. They spend most of their time dealing with domestic disputes etc. which has them acting as a social worker more than a law enforcer. They also have the sad task of attending road accidents, suicides, deaths from natural causes etc. then having to inform the relatives of the deceased. They put up with abuse from drunks and druggies for just doing their job.
Then along comes the young Highway Patrol officer with a big car, a big gun, and an even bigger attitude. This one bloke undoes all the good work the other police officers do in his town.
We are a target for these people because we chose to drive vehicles that stand out from the norm. We (or most of us) are fortunate to escape most of this attention due to our age, a bald patch and a bit of grey in the beard do have advantages.
It seems to me, there needs to be some type of screening process to weed out this type before they get into that type of job, but alas, that most likely will never happen.
BTW, I am not a police officer, but I can see their side of the story.

I count amongst my closest personal friends a number of Police officers. We've had some interesting discussions around the BBQ etc.

I'd never let on at a party what they do, just like they'd never let on what I do, seems Cops and Car Salesmen are equally targetable at BBQs and partys. And it doesn't matter if you don't work in a dealership or actually sell them, just working in the business makes you fair game!

I guess that's why I have empathy for Public servants.

I used to have police friends now they're just friends. They reckon it just isn't worth it .The revolving door syndrome they call it.
Have to one of the most ungrateful jobs going like or hate them.

The vast majority of Police out there are doing a good job under difficult circumstances. There are individuals who need to be weeded out, some food for thought on the "road safety" issue usually we see assistant commissioners up on podiums parrotting the Gov line instead of commonsense.Correct me if I am wrong ,but is not the chief commissioner selected by the Government? This may explain their stand on the tolerance issue re tax cameras.,meanwhile the road toll in Vic is up considerably compared to the same time last year, those claiming the camera benefit for the decline last year are now strangely silent.......Frank.
