I have come across a second-hand Edelbrock 600 cmf Carb.

Itís polished and would look good on top of the polished intake on my 302 Windsor.

Are there any drawbacks with an Edelbrock compared to a Holley?

The 302W / C4 is stock with Power+Plus aluminium intake, and block hugger headers.

edelbrock are light years ahead of any holley. they're probably the closest thing to EFI in carby form.great carb, i recommend them 100%.

Edelbrock will work fine with great econ if tuned right, but you can't beat a properly tuned DP for throttle response or power, take a look around the pits, any pits. Almost all Holleys or their derivatives Holley, Holley HP series, Demon, Bo Laws, Barry Grant's claws etc etc

There's one major drawback with that. It's a c....c.....c....CARBY!
(I just can't say the "C" word!).

Must of dug deep for this one choco.

Just for the record I end up with a Carter Competition series 600 (has Weber cast in the side) and is the same as Elelborock.

I want to go for an injected set up but will finish the car and fit it later.

I keep getting a vision of the horrified look on chocoís face as he forced his finger to type that bad and distasteful C word.

I took Choco for a ride in an LPG powered rod on the weekend.
He didn't find that too hard to take, he even brought the beer.................

I still can't talk him around though....

I ran an E'brock carb on my 309 cube motor with a stock intake, lumpy cam and stock exhaust. It worked fine, ran good, fuel economy... what's that?

Even for a carb moron like myself, I found it very easy to service. Go to www.edelbrock.com and you can download all sorts of info.

Likewise, I had one on my old HQ 308, worked fine, better performance than the rochy and better economy too.
Very easy to service I agree.

I am running one on the 302 Windsor in the 62 falcon ute with the edelbrock performer manifold, I am very impressed, it is economical and the motor seems to go harder when I put the pedal to the metal.

I previously had a 650 holley double pumper on it, and the edelbrock kills it. I never did like holley's anyway.

The only usefull part of Holley's are the butterflies, good for base plates on gas carbies........................

You can throw the rest of them away, just send me all your base plates.
