O/T: I've heard some motorists are now "dobbing" in other motorists for flicking butts out the window........in retaliation for a "road rage" incident. Nice!

I hope nobody mis-construed my comment there that I think it's wrong that litterers get dobbed in.....I think they should. I see smokers flicking butts out the window constantly......and NOW I've got the number! Thanks Mr. Cool!

{Some drivers are calling that number now because someone cut them off. }

BTW, you can also report smokey and noisey vehicles too, but you first have to register with the EPA as a "roving reporter" before they'll accept your report. You can do that via their website, they'll call you up and talk to you and make sure you aint some idiot, give you a password and you can go from there. You dont need to be a copper, however they will only get a warning letter if the public reports them, not a fine/inspection letter.

I must confess to and make no apology for dobbing one of those idiots flicking a cigarette butt out of a car window,a car[BMW] was stationary in traffic at red light in left lane, the idiot flicks a butt out of his driver,s window as I was in centre lane sidling up beside him at the same lights,it was a hot day [36d],me driving home in rod after a shitty day, butt bounces off passenger side window with shower of minute sparks. The arrogant driver nonchalantly gives me a glance Now,in this situation if I get out of the vehicle and start carrying on like a pork chop/or just punch the crap out of him, some independent good citizen, especially if they missed the lead up, pegs me as a "road rager, and I am left in the shit."This way the idiot who ,if my side window was open could have done some damage cops a fine$200.If they go into denial ,you must be prepared to go to court and give evidence, this process at least gives some protection against mischievious complaint...................Frank.

Coming home from work last summer, the smoke from the devastating Canberra bushfires still lingering in the air, I pulled up at the lights on Hindmarsh Drive behind some young idiot in Mum's Hyundai/Kia/insert-little-buzz-box-car-here. I watched in disbelief as he flicked his butt out the window. Without thinking, I jumped out of my car, picked up the butt and flicked it back into his lap, saying "Hey Mate, you dropped this". As he jumped around in his seat, I walked back to my car and got in, then leaned on the horn when the lights went green. I noticed a lady in the slow lane was pissing herself laughing, but I was bloody fuming! Having fought the Ash Wedensday bushfires, among others, I'm a bit sensitive, I suppose, and maybe I got lucky that the jerk-off didn't have a gat or a baseball bat and an attitude, as he took off without making any moves toward me. Next time, I'll have that dob-in number on speed dial on my hands-free mobile, as I'm not really that tough that I could withstand an assault by anything other than a crippled schoolgirl. However, I make no apologies, and will always condemn this kind of selfish, anti-social, stick-it-up-your-arse activity by responding in an appropriate manner.

Absolutely agree with you there, had a similar experience with some dickheads while I was riding my pushbike. Fortunately my anger bluffed em, they just drove off abusing me. It's amazing what you see when you're on a bike in traffic.

Yes Choco that sums up the rage I felt,I have a short fuse, but got satisfaction in the end.I was mindful of the fact that you can walk up to someone in the street king hit ,em and if apprehended plead some crap and cop a soggy tram ticket rap on the knuckles, however alighting from a motor vehicle becomes road rage and the magistrate,if you have traffic priors will suspend your licence for some period,no priors ,suspension is still an option,it follows from a previous post where I indicated that "justice" treats a motorist in a differing manner...............Frank

Well, on this occasion, I wasn't exactly "angry" I was "flustered". The truth is, I've never raised a fist in anger in my life. Road Rage is something that happens to me, rather than something I do to someone else. I rarely use my horn, I give way to everyone, I've never been booked or had a prang, so I'm rather a placid, defensive driver (until I get on the drag strip - then the gloves are OFF!).
Seeing butt-suckers casually flick their stinkin' butts into the world's biggest ash-tray just flicks a switch inside me, especially when it was during the worst bushfire season ever. Yes, ex-smoker for 26 years, too!

I usually lean on the horn as I see somebody flick a butt in the morning traffic. They always seem to know exactly why and usually do anything they can to avoid eye contact as I drive past.

Crazy thing is, for all the years I've been in the car business, we've been putting ashtrays in cars. The pricks who can't use them should be fined heavily, not just because thay are littering the country side but because in this country a lighted cigarett butt is just as bloody dangerous as a speeding motorist.

One morning when I honked a mongrel he flicked me the bird. Next set of lights I got out, walked up to his window and advised him that a few years back, three of my neighbours died in a bushfire...caused because some arswipe like him flicked his stinking lighted but out his car window!

I think the jerk got the message. I encourage everybody to honk anybody they see flicking a lighted butt, then ring u0p and dob the bastards in!

And I've seen how quickly a lighted butt can set the surrounding area alight!

Maybe, but there are some things I would not hesitate to dob someone in for.

Driving fenderless is NOT one of them!

Brainless driving or flicking lighted fag butts IS!

A mates Daughter got a fine from one of these 'roving reporter's' in her Austin Lancer, it may blow a 'Little' smoke but is NOT 'smokey'!

They suspect she may have had the choke out, what can you do??
it requires them to turn up at the epa with the recipts to show they've fixed the problem. Does a can of Wyns Stop Smoke count???

A bottle of metho in the fuel tank also works, but the only drawback is it can also attract water into the fuel system. I doubt if you turned up to the EPA with a receipt from woolies for a bottle of metho would look good though.
Just a thought, if the camiras was virtually made smokey from the factory, do they make allowances for them?

Outback, on the smoker, the EPA edict is "blowing smoke continuously for 10 seconds" [in excess of nine seconds].If the vehicle meets this criterea then write them informing of the fact.,and that should be the end of it.,the important thing is DO NOT IGNORE the notice. My daughter driving her first car ,a 2ltr Cortina copped one of these in the mail, after being pulled up by a Police car for a "routine" check, and they obviously were not happy with a zero problem.I was aware that the valve stem seals were a little bit dodgy and the problem was for a later fix,I had her drive with me following down a hill with foot off accelerator under engine braking, there was a slight puff under acceleration at the bottom of the hill,I wrote them of this test, and that the informant required education on the actual rule, that was the end of the issue...............Frank.

. I always chuckle to myself when I hear that. I thought synthetic was something made up to replicate the original substance, and pure is.....well pure. The original. So "pure - synthetic" is a contradiction? I could say an original fake Not pickin on you Bcal, King Brocky did an ad on TV sellin the stuff.
