hey guys
this is my first post, all going to plan & there should be lots more.
i am planning to build my first rod, ideally a 32 pickup rat rod, my current problem is i am using this project to learn most of my skills (going to tafe etc) at present i have a hg premier sitting in my garage that i need to get rid of asap. I would like to scavenge everything that may come in handy off it before i get rid of the old girl. any help on what items (drive line, steering etc) i can use off this car would be greatly appreciated.

cheers peru

Hey Bobby,

Welcome, perhaps if you are going to post more may as well become a member. Its free and so is all the information and feedback you get!

If you plan on building a "ratRod" as you call it you should know that anything goes. If you wish to keep it cheap and nasty ala rat style why not use as much of the hg as you can. Frontend, driveline, rearend, seats etc.. You might want full fenders to stop the hot rod nazis picking on the non traditional frontend though. The way I see it if you are going to strip the car utilize as much as possible. Sell off whats left and pour that back into the 32!

Yeah Devilrod has it...if you want it cheap, then graft as much from the HG as possible...I would even try and use the steering box. There's not much wrong with a good HG steering box. I don't know about the seats, they might be too wide for the 32. Youd be surprised how much of the HG you will be sifting through and using bits off...So keep anything until the 32 is finished., except for body parts...sell them off now to get a bit of cash and give you some room.
