Spoolin,
I was discussing a similar thing was a friend of mine recently.
He wants a removable system that sits on top of his windscreen and can be used with or without the roof.
What we discussed was a low profile header panel to which is fitted a boat style wiper motor. This header can either attach separately to the windscreen posts or be sandwiched between the roof and the posts.
If you want to drive a second (slave) wiper via a push rod I suggest you don't use the system that most wiper kits come with as they tend to bind.
I bought a couple of tiny rod ends from a hobby shop for a couple of bucks and they work a treat. The ones I got have a brass ball that you bolt to the wiper arms and plastic sockets that screw onto the rod. The plastic sockets then clip onto the balls (no not yours )
There's dozens of other types available
