What model hilux chassis do most ppl use to put under a pick up rod i have access to a RN25 but it has drum brakes and i dont know of any up grades for this front end.
I also want to put a 1uzfe v8 in the car as well am i better of shafting the original hilux front end and setting up a L300 front end.
Any help on this topic would be greatly aprreciated
Thanks

upto 1984 is suitable. also navara is used unsure on the year.
you dont put a l300 under a hilux you use there existing front end.
The only use I can a hilux chassis would be strip it to rails as the existing engine mounts have to be moved.

I looked into this rather heavily years bad move in my opinion not worth doing but each to there own.

You might want to call Les Buckley and ask him for advice. I have seen waht he's doing with Nissan Chassis and his fibreglass bodies, and it's very impressive. He also had some Hilux chassis for some other projects. Visit his web site for contact details:

Hi folks,

Sorry to intrude on another's thread, but it seems like a good starting point. Hope it doesn't offend anyone!

For those in the know, has the entire production of Hiluxes (to present) been full chassis? And if so, can someone point me in the direction of a comprehensive history and specs of the past and present hiluxes?

At the moment I'm considering an older landcruiser body on a newer Hilux (w/ mod cons). I'd be doing a 'cruiser ute and probably a custom tray, so wheelbase isn't a huge concern, although I think they're fairly close anyway. Would this be viable, or would rebodying a 'cruiser on a 'cruiser chassis be so much simpler it's not worth it to worry about hiluxes?

Oh, and since I'm not experienced with such things, would anyone happen to know what it would cost to get a roof chop? And what would specifically be involved/required?

Cheers guys!

Rob.
