Christ now I have done it!

We had this done on the glide in our drag car.

Yes it uses a 400 convertor and I am sure the pump was either replaced or modifed.

Because of our engine plate the convertor had different mounting tabs on it anyway.

With a vasco input shaft it was quite happily coping with about a 900 hp BBC.

Sorry I do not know the guts of the operation we sent it off to the trans shop with a powerglide input shaft and came back with t400 parts for both.

You may have to ask your local (trusty) trans shop for more info Nev.

Sorry this is a late posting to this thread but I have only just registered.

It is interesting to note that it is regarded as a rule of thumb that a car weighing less than 3000lbs will run quicker with a powerglide than with a traditional 3 speed auto. That is if you are looking for a low et. I am installing a 440 chrysler into the rod I am building and mating a powerglide to it as estimates of vehicle weight are approx 2500lbs. Powerglides are a light box compared with the T350/400's as well.

But if you are looking for drivability, the T350/400's are probably better.

hi guys have been away awhile with shifting house and the young fellows operation and by the way i found a powerglide off a chev v8 for 250 bucks has been sitting for abouit 12 months but was fine before being pulled out so am happy now i have a trans will just give it a service and slap it in and suck and see what happens
