I tried chat sessions...they are too erratic. The subject matter gets lost in different conversations.

Sounds like your average club meeting to me

I think the posting and replying to specific subjects is the way it should be. Everyone has the same opportunity to respond...and that also helps to make people think before they post, or at least have the ability to edit....

I agree with Pep.
A chat room would end like a lot of clubs where the guy with the biggest gob (or in this case, fastest fingers) rules the roost.

Gee where do I start. Picture number 2 is my favourite, but then I am biased! Lots of good comments in here and yes Old32 it would be nice if the powers that be at ASRF spend some of their time and our membership dollars reading a lot (if not all) of what is on this site! I have stated on another post that we are the biggest Hotrod Club in the country, right here! A diverse range of opinions from a diverse range of personalities, ages, sexes, interests, new rodders, old rodders, wise rodders and some questionable characters but all with something to say.

Unlike this forum I see a club based site being a strictly members only site so that the club can go about it business privately as all clubs must do. I do though see the need for a pubic (visitors) area so that the club can make public announcements and as a contact point for prospective members etc.

I'd consider a discussion site on the ASRF web site should be there for all members to voice their opinions as individuals, just as we do here. However, once again I doubt that any of the people who influence what happens within the ASRF would actively participate or act on what's being discussed. Other than to maybe tell us we are pisssing in the wind and have no right to discuss such matters or expect any action based on our status as individuals and not a club where the combined group gets only one vote.

Gee Carps you should be a politician. Somehow the ASRF have to start getting some grass roots feedback and actually listening and acting upon it. As more and more hotrodders get involved with these scary computer whizbang thingys and work out they are really pretty easy to use (but hard to master!) then forums like this one, or a special 'ASRF members only' one on their site are the way to the future. They already have a webmaster who can easily arange it for them. Is anyone listening out there at ASRF?

I would hate to see Hotrodding start to go down the same path as Restoring. We all get old, die off, our kids sell off all our old unwanted 'crap' and buy the latest Skyline, Supra, SS Commodore or similar techno car with 18" wheels, ugly graphics, big stereos and cruise around watching Fast & Furious on their DVD player in the dash!

The ASRF should have a message board for all members to voice their ideas etc. If the ASRF choose to ignore what their members are saying then let them be condemned for that.

They have been, but it appears to those of us who condemmmed them that the people who have charge of OUR organisation don't care what we think or what we want.

They've already told us in no uncertain terms it will never happen.

For all it's faults I think we're better off with a national body than without it. The National Guidelines are a case in point.
Maybe things will change if and when we get a National Administrator.

The ASRF is an incorporated association and bound by the same laws as any other association. Find out what state they're incorporated in and check on the laws in that state. If the majority of your members are ASRF members you should be able to mount a case for inclusion of your club.
