Looking up Rodding in Australia and came across HRI and clicked on the Bench Racing link and been here ever since

Ditto, I spent some time visiting the late model Falcon and minitruck sites, but some people seem to be just waiting for you to post to jump all over you... not to mention the Falcon site is full of knobheads tarting up their ex-taxis!

This place, and this place www.bigroadblues.com are pretty much the only ones I visit anymore, simply cos of the friendly knowledgable people who frequent.

Dolly's got more class than to be hanging round with, or talking to "Rag Doll's".

Chainsaw, HAMB is the Hokey Ass Message Board, part of the Jalopy Journal site,

Don't get involved with much discussion there, I think we speak a different lingo, in fact I'm certain

I've been there trough all three or is it four generations of the H.A.M.B. and the majority there do speak our language... not quite fluently, but that's only coz they drop all the 'U's and roll their cars roun on 'tar's' or 'tires'.

I was a regular at the Yank site ..RRT....I still paticipate there, but not as much as the early days...I think it was Ripper that mentioned this site on the RRT.

Funny that, I arrived at RRT not long after it started when Skip Readio sent me an email asking if I knew this Aussie guy posting on the then new US web site. Ripper and me became good buddies despite it being him who introduced me to Brootal, long before he started to post here or anywhere else.. Having been fortunate enough to travel widely, I've also been fortunate enough to meet many of the people who post on the three sites I frequent, HAMB, RRT and Here. Never met anybody I can say I didn't like, despite the fact that some of us have vastly diffferent opinions. On the other hand I have experienced stuff and had a level of fun that might never have been had without participation on the WWW. Heck, one of my favourite people, Dolly, was even born on the original RRT and has been included in the masthead/logo ever since.

The question now is...where's Ripper ( Peter ),

When he's not chasin that gurl he fancies, he's chasin cows.
He's also had the privelidge of sleeping in the same room with Dolly, but not in the samee bed.

I don't think a club would do me any better...probably a lot worse as many seem ready to pounce on a good deal within the club than to help with advise and tips.

Keep lookin Pep, there's plenty of good clubs out there, sure each may have one or two lesss than perfect members, but you just ignore that and get on with the job of having a good time and working with your freinds.

The club I joined has members from all walks of life, and a reputation for being a bit on the rough and ratty side. That's what's so good about it, we don't take ourselves too seriously but we do generally chip in and help or encourage each other to enjoy club life and attend events etc.

Like a member may be getting frustrated in building his car and instead of helping all they seem to do is hang around like vultures to pounce on your impulse to sell.

My clubmates are clearly quite different, their frustration comes from knowing a club member has an unfished project and they will apply 'due pressure' or whatever help is needed to get that sucker on the road. They willl also apply pressure to a member who has recently parted with his ride, to aquire or build the next one. Strangely, the 80/20 rule applies for major projects but not as it does at many other clubs. Our club has two or three major activities each year and 80% or more of the membership actually chips in and gets the job done whilst less than 20% don't show up or participate.. Usually that only applies to one activity and they'lll be there helping with another.

Quote:
I know them from the past and they won't get a snif from me.

These guys usually don't have many freinds, don't make freinds and don't last in the club too long.

Pep, keep lookin, you'll eventually find a club that fits and when you do you'll enjoy the pleasures that the internet can't provide every time you log in. One on one human interation with a bunch of people who share your passion. Ya reallly can't go past that, which is why so much fun has been had each time I've met face to face with the gang from here, the HAMB and RRT.

Same place she's been for months.

Hiding from the crazed stalker who's been telling everybody he's her boyfriend.
