son-in-law took his much modified(2-door,blown LP gas fuelled red motor, roadster bodied FJ)'52 holden to the "all " holden day,at hawksbury show ground(sydney) today and was told he couldn't enter it, as he "was not a member of of a recognised holden club"what's wrong with these guys?I think we're too spoilt going to all these rod runs where people don't worry about silly crap like that.he's decided to stick to the rod runs from now on ,as this was the first outing for his new creation ,and he came away very dejected by the attitudes of these one eyed people.anyone out there had a similar experiance like this??

This is why my car will be for cruising and general transport, this snobbery that seems to exist with those that run these shows is enough to put anyone off, surely if it's Holden powered it should be allowed to enter?

I mean, they do allow Chevy powered rides to enter now don't they! icon_razz.gif

I'm not defending the attitude, but maybe there was some reason that he had to be in a club, insurance etc...

I don't understand this "one make" crap anyway. I like all sorts of cars and these people that are only interested in one make and won't even look at another are just weird.

FJ sounds interesting. Got any pics?

I had the same problem when I wanted to take the alfarod to the all Italian day. They would only have let me in if I was a member of one of the recognised clubs. This was dispite the pleas from the alfisti who wanted to see the car on display. I spose if they made an exception for me they would have to do the same for everybody.

I guess clubs will always have the right to exclude who ever they want from their events and you will always have the right to tell them where they can stick their event.

Got any pics of this car to share. Sounds interesting.

now u got me angry !!!!!!!!!!!

soooo i show up in the family car .....we got a korean mercedes......... and i'm not welcome ....... ok ..car isnt .. but me ??

now .. i go home .. roar in in the tourer . i'm ok .... same idiot .. difff car..when will ppl realise .. yes car's gotta be different but car guys are car guys !

but the person drivin is same !!

A true story from a few yrs back........

It was when the EA Falcon was first released...missus and I had a couple of Prefect's (defects) hers a 4 banger nice little jigger..mine...(a blown wild 350)

So off we go to the release of the new Ford EA (invited by Ford)

They had a trophy for top Prefect ... oh my god top Prefect we gotta take both those home

so arrived there and here are the 8hp - 10hp club

and good luck to em, we like what they do

if whistle's the blown Prefect and the club says nooooooooooo this car cannot compete in best Prefect

(best Prefect) what does that mean, the best one or the best one according to ........................???????

However knowing our cars were far beyond the quality of the whingers, we told judges we wouldn't compete

the said members of the whinging mob all walked away gleefully

we got our biggest kicks watching around the corner as they took hundreds and hundreds of pics of our cars.........i wonder why and was so funny as we wandered back to our vehicles they bolted....so who cares!!!

actually this was TJ's mum telling this story cause it is true

What would they say at the All Holden Day if someone showed up in Brocky's old Holden 6 powered Austin A30?

Wasn't it not long ago that you couldn't enter your early customised Holden or Ford in the ASRF Nationals because it "wasn't American" or "didn't have a full chassis" or sumpin, even if you were an ASRF member. I'm sure these vehicles were customised back when they were new, like the yanks did with thier '50's and '60's cars.

Dunno what happened with it, still not sure if they're recognised by ASRF as customs by definition.

Cheers and beers

G'day Steve,

Was that the green metalflake Humpy that cruised in on Sunday morning and then cruised back out a little while later? Sure did attract the attention of myself and the rest of the Macquarie Towns hot rodders as it cruised past the Club House

Regards,

Pete
