I have recently purchased a '34 Ford chassis, Rod-Tech independent front end, 9" Ford rear end, tri s/s rear 4 bar system with aluminium coil overs.
There is no chassis number and I have been told to make one up. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Also, can anyone recommend an engineer in south-west Sydney that I can use and at what stage should I begin to deal with him? Looking forward to your responses.

Is the chassis based on original rails or is it a repro?
Are you going for full or street rod rego? Both systems are in a state of flux at the moment. A new rule book is being drafted for street rod rego and if your project has not been registered with the Street Rod Committee you may have to wait. The RTA is clamping down on repro chassis and is classifying them as Individually Constructed which means full ADR's ( but how can they tell? ). We also have the prospect of a future National Street Rod rego scheme which the so called Premier State is holding out on ratifying.
Most guys in the Sutherland area use Dave Roberts of Minto. I'd contact him soon to see which way to jump regards rego.
If your not in a club you should join one. The politics may give you the shits ( sure shits me!! ) but it's the best way to get advice and info.

Thankyou for your reply. I am going for full rego on new rails (Kevin Lewis Chassis). People have told me to stamp my own numbers but is it that simple? Will I tell the RTA that they are original rails?
Thankyou

Up here in sunny Qld, we use a combination af your ARSF membership numbers and your proposal-to-build form number, if you chassis doesnt already have a number.

Don't know if that applies Souta Da Border

From the sounds of other comments made, things can be very strange down there in regards to rego

Stamp the rails with an original number and tell the RTA nothing except its original....saves heart aches
Dave Roberts.... Unit 1A, 113 Airds Rd Minto....96038637
He'll want to see it as a rolling chassis if its a steel body...glass car ring and ask..

I was talking to a friend the other day who is doing a 32 with repro chassis and glass body. His engineer is happy so long as it has at least one original type crossmember. The body has to comply with a few extra ADR's because the car is classed as a rebodied original.
