I finally have a hot rod! I bought an anglia panel van today with a 350 chev fitted, the front end is lj torana narrowed (unsure how much) and the chassis has been boxed and k membered.

I've got to setup the rear end too. It needs a fair amount done to it but the body and chassis are pretty good so I'm really happy. I havent got any photo's at this stage but I should have it back here on tuesday.

G'Day Mike,
If you saw all the stone chips on the front you'd soon realise just how long it has been around, and it's still a real nice car. I can remember Bill's youngster Shane, standing up on the front seat, holding on to the steering wheel as most kids did when very young, now he's a very acomplished competitor with the Junior Dragster, the whole family competing in NSW and QLD, the Chev pulling a purpose built caravan/transporter.

Here's a photo of the junior dragster from 1999, note the Chev is well under construction. (Bill did all mechanical and body work including paint in his garage at home.)

My favourite story about the Chev, which has very rightfully won many awards, is this year at the Chev Nationals, Bill won the drags against very feirce competition and also won a couple of trophies for his trouble. As everyone is packing up to go home, here's all the guys he'd competed against loading their pride and joy on to a trailer, whereas Bill hooked up the trailer loaded up the family and drove the Chev home. Says a lot about the bloke and the car.

Well I have it home! I still have to sort out what happened to the second grille, but at least i have most of it home. Next I have to find a mig welder at a reasonable price so I cant get stuck into it.
Dave.
P.s. I will post some photo's as soon as i get a digital camera.

Just thought I would add a quick update, after no luck finding a narrow enough diff to suit a v8 I decided to go back to a cortina 2 litre motor.

I know a lot of people probably wont like it with this motor but it will be saving me a heck of a lot in the build costs as well as fuel and rego. I got a whole te cortina for $100 with a spare motor, I still need a diff but that shouldnt be too hard to track down.

I am also trying to sort out a free website to post up some pics, so if any one has some suggestions I would appreciate it.
Dave.

David, have you seen this site?
http://www.tomspages.freeserve.co.uk/pop/martspop.htm
Should provide plenty of inspiration for both your site and the car.

Jimmy, thanks for that. I just made a quick site (it's a bit lame) just so I can show people who are interested. I've only got a couple of photo's at this stage. I will be looking further into setting up a decent page as I progress with the car.

here's the link:
http://www.geocities.com/escort_freak_au/angliavan.html

Bcal,
Yeah I found that site when I was trying to build the a model a couple of years ago, thankyou for that. The site hasn't been updated in a while and I have sent him an email to see how it has progressed, but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks guys.
David.
